Address Confidentiality Program

For some persons attempting to escape domestic violence, sexual assault threats, or stalking it is necessary to establish a new address in order to prevent their assailants from finding them. By substituting the Secretary of State’s address, the Address Confidentiality Program (ACP) provides a safe mailing address for use by victims of domestic violence, stalking or sexual assault. The ACP is designed to help victims of domestic violence do business with government agencies and other entities, and even register to vote, without risking disclosure of their home address. Eligible participants use the substitute address in place of their real home address to receive first class and certified mail. The Address Confidentiality Program helps prevent a potential abuser from locating a participant using public records as a tool for identifying residential information.
